Party Planning Suggestions

    Appraisal parties
  1. Choose Your Objective
Is your gathering a party for friends or family to have fun? A fundraiser for your club or charity? An educational activity for your civic group? What do you want to accomplish?

  2. Select your length
How long do you want your appraisal party to last? Ms. Davenport offers two-hour and four-hour parties, and she can appraise up to 30 items per hour.

  3. Select Your Venue
Hold your appraisal party in any venue, big or small. Throw a party for family and friends in your own home. Treat your church group to an appraisal party in the church basement. Design a fund-raiser around an appraisal party in your local convention center.

  4. Choose Your Party Theme
Every great party starts with a great theme. Need ideas? Try these on for size.

Doll Family Box Party, where members of your extended family and beyond bring items from family dress-up boxes, tool boxes, jewelry boxes and more.

Collectible Party, where you and your like-minded friends bring favorite collectibles-like dolls, toys, plates and other collectibles-for discussion and appraisal.

Geneology Party, where you and your guests come ready to share family trees, stories and scandals, along with family heirlooms for appraisal.

Dish-It-Out Party, where your guests bring dishes, plates, flatware and hollowware, along with stories about the people who owned them.

Ring Game Party, where everyone brings an old game from their attic-and everyone plays their favorites.

Kitsch Party, where everyone brings the cheesiest old item from their attic, along with the truth about how that item came to reside in their home.

  5. Design Your Games
What fun is a party without games? Using your party's theme as a guide, choose the contests, games and awards you want your party to include. Competitions and awards connected to items brought for appraisal are always fun, such as "Most Bizarre Tool," Oddest Doll," or "Saddest Story," "Biggest Scandal," "Best Family Story," or "What Were They Thinking" awards, along with prizes that you supply.

  6. Book Your Party
Once you've designed your party, you'll get a pre-party agreement, which confirms all the details of your party, confirms the payment arrangements, and outlines our refund policy. Your signature on the pre-party agreement and your 50 percent deposit reserve your spot on Ms. Davenport's calendar.
